The TCF’s local government working party (LGWP) has developed a set of high-level principles setting out the minimum standards for telecommunications infrastructure in new sub-divisions.
These principles have been developed in response to a number of requests from Local Government New Zealand. They have now been approved by the board, and will be released for public consultation.
The draft principles have been developed to help local bodies develop policies to ensure that property developers provide adequate telecommunications infrastructure early in the development process. This will help property owners get easy access to telecommunications services once they move in.
The LGWP was set up in October 2008. Its members are: Chorus, Kordia, Telecom, Vector, Vodafone and Woosh.
A copy of the draft principles will be available on the Local Government web page from Friday 30 July.
