The IP interconnection working party has developed a revised project scope and appointed a new independent chair, Peter Harris (who also chairs the UFB working party).
The revised project scope covers three key areas of work:
- commercial principles
- technical standards
- a technical trial and/or pilot.
Other work that needs to be done but which is not covered by the project scope, such as detailed commercial principles and/or model, will be done in parallel or at a later stage.
The working party will produce the following deliverables:
- A self regulated code for the IP Interconnection commercial model.
- Minimum technical standards for IP interconnection for voice (VoIP).
The working party was first set up in mid-2008 to look at IP Interconnection, particularly for voice services. Its work was put on hold in March 2009, and it began meeting again in March this year.
