The deadline for submissions on the TCF draft Mobile Messaging Services Working Code has been extended until 5pm, Friday, 30 July, 2010.
The new Code, the Mobile Messaging Services Code is intended to replace the Mobile Premium Messaging Services Code which was endorsed by the TCF in February 2008. It covers both premium and non-premium messaging services.
The new Code will:
- include new requirements for the operation and delivery of standard charge and non-chargeable (free) mobile messaging services.
- retain most of the requirements from the previous premium messaging services code and apply these requirements to all chargeable messaging services.
The new code has been drawn up by a six-member working party in response to the huge growth in the number of non-premium rate services since the Premium Messaging Services Code was first endorsed.
Members of the working party are: Fronde, Mobile Messenger, Modica, Telecom, The Hyperfactory and Vodafone.
Workshops to explain the code were held in Auckland, Wellington and Sydney in June and July.
You can make a submission on the new code by email to jackie.clark@tcf.org.nz or you can post it to the Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum, P O Box 302469, North Harbour, North Shore City 0751.
Please note that unless stated otherwise, all submissions will be regarded as public and will be published on the TCF website.
